The mayor of temporarily occupied Melitopol Ivan Fedorov called on the locals not to take russian pseudo-passports. Neither Ukraine, nor other democratic states will recognize those "documents".

The main reason for passports distribution is that russians want to forcibly mobilize Melitopol citizens, Fedorov reported on Telegram.

Because of the food shortage, the city residents are forced to accept so-called humanitarian aid and money from the occupiers and use their SIM cards.

"State-funded sphere employees can not cooperate with the occupiers. The Ukrainian government will keep funding budget-funded workers. The employees of other enterprises can cooperate without facing criminal liability for wartime collaboration. An enterprise's head bears full responsibility for cooperating with the occupiers. Bogdan Khmelnytskyy Melitopol State Pedagogical University and Dmytro Motorny Tavriya State Agrotechnological University [both based in Melitopol – tr.] remain Ukrainian, they are re-registered in the Zaporizhzhia region," – he emphasized.

On 27 May, the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration warned the enemy was planning to hand out their "passports" in Melitopol. These "documents" will not bring those who receive them any benefits.
