In opinion of Mariupol city officials, 22 000 civilians were killed by Russians but that number could increase significantly. Vadym Boychenko, the Mayor of Mariupol, informed about it.

"In our opinion, there were 22 000 people killed in Mariupol. But more and more facts show that the consequences of the Russian crimes are much worse. It needs special attention of the world community, as well as the terrible situation of the local population in the occupation," he said.

The press service of the City Council also informed that 25 new trench-type sectors appeared at the Starokrymske Cemetery within a month. The occupiers put the bodies in several layers, and then "masked" them as individual burials with the appropriate memorial plaques.

Since mid-April, the occupiers have buried at least 16 000 Mariupol residents in mass graves near the villages of Stary Krym, Mangush and Vynogradne. Another 5 000 people were buried by public utilities by mid-March.

Thousands of bodies remain under wreckage, in spontaneous cemeteries and in temporary mortuaries.

To remind, Lyudmila Denysova, Commissioner for Human Rights in Verkhovna Rada, said that at least 25 000 civilians had already died in Mariupol, which Russia was constantly bombarding with heavy bombs, thermobaric and phosphorus shells. Also, almost 96 000 deported Mariupol residents are being held in special camps in Russia. British intelligence has already identified 66 camps like this.
