Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia have joined the Joint Investigation Team to Investigate Serious International Crimes in Ukraine.

The Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova reported about it.

The group, formed by Ukraine, Lithuania and Poland on March 25, has now expanded to six countries.

"It is currently the largest Joint Investigation Team in the history of Eurojust. It is a powerful step on our international legal front: expanding JIT will give us new opportunities and resources to achieve our main goal of bringing to justice all those involved in heinous war crimes in Ukraine ... Also members of the group are Eurojust and, for the first time in its history, the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court," Venediktova said.

The agreement on joining the group of Estonia, Latvia and Slovakia was signed at a meeting of Eurojust.

EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reynders and EU Commissioner for Home Affairs Ilva Johansson attended the group's meeting on 31 May.

"We have heard very important signals of support from European partners and assurances of support for our important mission to ensure justice," she added.
