Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President, called on Spain and other international partners to help Ukraine with the necessary weapons to protect Europe's security as soon as possible.
Zhovkva spoke about the results of his visit to the European Forum in Madrid on his Facebook page.
During his visit to Spain, he addressed the country's political, expert and business elite at the Europe Forum in Madrid. In his speech he informed about the development of the situation at the front and the heroic struggle of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which continue to defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state, as well as defend the security of Europe," said the Deputy Head of the OPU.
He thanked the EU for agreeing to impose a sixth package of sanctions against the aggressor state and called for increased sanctions on russia.
"He also called for support for granting Ukraine the status of a candidate country for EU membership in June. The citizens of Ukraine expect now for such a step from the leaders of the European Union," Zhovkva added.
He noted that "sincere and open communication with the participants of the event confirms - Spain consistently supports our state", and "participation in the forum and dialogue with the audience allowed to convey to the Spanish establishment the main message - Ukraine is a European state that strengthens European security and protects European values".
According to the Ministry of Health, almost half a hundred Ukrainians from the eastern regions were sent to Spain and Germany for treatment.
In April, the Spanish Prime Minister announced that 200 tons of ammunition had been sent to Ukraine.
