The Ukrainian parliament on 15 August passed a law approving the presidential decree on extending martial law in Ukraine until 21 November 2022 and the law on extending general mobilization.

Both laws were voted for by 328 MPs, an LB.ua reporter said.

The first law stipulates that "the duration of martial law in Ukraine is extended from 5.30 a.m. on 23 August 2022 for a period of 90 days".

The adoption of the law "will facilitate the adoption of adequate measures aimed at repelling the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine," says the first law, which was submitted to parliament by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The second law "extends the general mobilization shall from 23 August 2022 for 90 days". The implementation of the law will require additional financial expenditures from the state budget.
