The head of the public relations service of Ukraine's 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade, Capt Yuriy Lelyavsky, was killed in action in the war against Russian occupiers, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine has said.
Lelyavskyy was killed on 28 September while on a mission as part of an air assault unit.
He was a professional journalist, in civilian life he worked for many years for various publications and on national TV channels.
In 2014-2015, Yuriy Lelyavskyy covered the events in eastern Ukraine, for which he was taken prisoner by militants. After the liberation, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he held the positions of the head of the press service and public relations of the 10th Mountain Assault Brigade and the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade.
