Police Jun Lt Tayisiya Tataryn, 22, was shot dead during a special operation in Chernivtsi after she and her colleague responded to a call about a man allegedly corrupting minors on school premises, Molodyy Bukovynets has reported.
The presidential office confirmed the officer's death and said another law enforcer was wounded.
The suspect offered resistance and opened fire at the patrol.
The first deputy chief of the patrol police department, Oleksiy Biloshytskyy, offered his condolences to the killed officer's family, colleagues and friends.
The culprit is being searched for.
