An explosion occurred on the territory of the military airfield Shaikovka in Kaluga Region due to the fall of a drone. The drone, according to the governor Vladislav Shapsh, "came from the border".

According to him, the airfield infrastructure and equipment were allegedly not damaged, and there were no casualties. According to Russian TV channels, the explosion occurred when the UAV was above the runway.

The 52nd Guards Heavy Bomber Aviation Regiment is based in Shaykovka. It is from this airfield that Russian TU-22M3 - long-range strategic bombers - missile carriers take off. They launch X-22 missiles on the territory of Ukraine. The same planes dropped FAB-3000 unguided bombs on Azovstal defenders and launched Russian Kinzhal missiles in Odesa region.
