In an urgent address to Ukrainians, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said the massive Russian missile and air attack this morning has two targets: energy facilities and people across the country.

"They want panic and chaos, they want to destroy our energy system. They are hopeless […] They have deliberately chosen such a time and such targets to cause as much damage as possible. But. We are Ukrainians. We help each other. We trust in ourselves. We rebuild everything what was ruined," he said.

He warned about possible disruptions in power supply, "but there will be no disruptions in our faith in victory".

"Why such attacks? The enemy wants us to get scared, to make people run away. But we can only run forward - and we demonstrate this on the battlefield. It will continue to be so," Zelenskyy said.

According to him, rescuers and air defence are working. Some 38 air targets have been shot down.

The president urged people to stay in shelters and follow safety rules.

"Thanks to the help of our military, everything will be fine [...] And always remember: Ukraine was before this enemy, Ukraine will be after it," he concluded.

On the morning of 10 October, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine. There were hits in different cities, including Kyiv, Kharkiv, Konotop and others. Air defence was activated in Lviv, Vinnytsya, Khmelnytskyy, and Odesa regions.
