The Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down 223 Iranian-made Shahed-136 drones, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

"As of 19 October, since the first case of shooting down an Iranian-made Shahed-136 kamikaze drone on the territory of Ukraine (13 September 2022, Kupyansk), the air defence of the Air Force and other structures of the Defence Forces of Ukraine have destroyed 223 UAVs of this type," the statement said.

It is noted that anti-aircraft missile units, fighter aircraft, self-propelled anti-aircraft guns, mobile firing groups of MANPADS, anti-aircraft guns, heavy machine guns and other weapons are involved in the destruction of Shahed-136, which the Russians mark as Geranium-2.

"Air defence is working! We are fighting the enemy together!" the Command added.

Iran officially denies supplying Russia with drones to attack Ukraine. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that Iran "did not provide weapons to any side of the countries that are in a state of war". However, according to the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran are currently in the Russian-occupied Crimea, where they teach the occupiers to work with Shahed-136 kamikaze drones.
