Russian troops have once again struck at energy infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, damaging six of them, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said at a government meeting.

According to him, the energy infrastructure in Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, Mykolayiv, Donetsk and Kyiv regions came under fire.

"In the morning, Zhytomyr and a number of settlements in the region, the left-bank part of Kyiv were de-energized. Now work is underway to restore power supply," he added.

Shmyhal noted that given the situation with shelling, Ukrainians need to limit electricity consumption.

"Yesterday during the evening peak the level of electricity consumption in Kyiv decreased by 10% compared to the previous day, in the entire central region by 8%. However, in general in Ukraine, the level of consumption during the evening peak yesterday increased by 1.8%. The growth was due to the western and northern regions of Ukraine," he said.

He pointed out that the responsible agencies had developed a detailed set of economical consumption of electricity for the population, enterprises, institutions and organizations, in particular during peak hours. According to Shmyhal, this set of measures will allow pragmatic and effective application of restrictions if necessary.
