Investigators of the National Police opened more than 41 thousand criminal proceedings on the facts of war crimes of the Russian military, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports citing Oleksiy Serheyev, head of the Department of Organizational and Analytical Support and Operational Response of the National Police of Ukraine.
"The police documented 34 torture chambers in the liberated territories and 34 places of detention and filtration camps created in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and Russia," the report said.
30 thousand criminal proceedings were initiated on the facts of violation of the laws and customs of war (Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), almost 9 thousand - for encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). About 2 thousand criminal proceedings were initiated on the facts of collaboration (Article 111-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
As of yesterday, 23 torture chambers were discovered in Kharkiv Region. The Interior Ministry is identifying who personally participated in torturing our citizens.
