Russians change combat tactics in Bakhmut sector

Russian troops have changed their tactics in the battles for Bakhmut in Donbas, which is a key target of the enemy, the spokesman for the Eastern group of troops, Serhiy Cherevatyy, has said on the air of the national telethon, RBC-Ukraine reports.

"Now Donbas is the main front of the struggle for our independence and the main focus of our enemy's efforts to push through our defence, to try to reach the rear and capture the entire Ukrainian Donbas," Cherevatyy said.

He recalled that Russia still focuses its main efforts on the Bakhmut and Avdiyivka sectors, attacks and assaults take place there every day, the occupiers use all types of artillery, multiple rocket launchers and aviation.

"The enemy has changed tactics - instead of using company and battalion formations, they create assault detachments and groups, and these groups are divided into subgroups that directly assault, while others cover them with fire. We are studying this tactic and for each such military poison we have an antidote," Cherevatyy said.

According to him, this tactic is primarily used by the Russian Wagner PMC, but it is also used by other types of troops involved in attacks on Ukrainian positions.

"In general, as for the frontline, it is such an interesting configuration now, when it is impossible to say that one side is in a state of attack, and the other is in a deaf defence. Now it is a dynamic process, when we attack the enemy as much as possible and try to knock them out of their positions. And in turn, the enemy, where it has an advantage and sees that it can carry out attacks, it does it," Cherevatyy summed up.
