There is a significant power shortage in the power system of Ukraine. After eight waves of missile attacks, all Ukrainian thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said on Facebook.

According to him, 40% of high-voltage grid facilities were damaged to varying degrees.

The government instructed the Energy Ministry to identify and submit clear priorities for the resumption of electricity supply:

the first priority is critical infrastructure and hospitals;

second priority - enterprises and facilities of the military-industrial sector,

third priority - businesses that produce critical goods and products for the country;

the fourth priority is the housing sector.

Shmyhal also said that small and medium-sized businesses can get a 0% loan for the purchase of alternative energy sources, in particular generators.

On 10 December, one of Energoatom's thousand-megawatt power units (VVER-1000) was disconnected from the power grid to eliminate a malfunction of the backup protection current transformer.
