Slovakia has not yet sent MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, but is ready to do it, the Foreign Minister of the Slovak Republic Rastislav Kacer said, according to Interfax Ukraine.
As he said, this issue had been discussed in detail with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"We have not yet handed over MiG-29 to you. But we are ready to do it. We are talking with our NATO partners about how to do it. And today (8 December - ed.), we had a very meaningful conversation with your president. My defence minister explained to Volodymyr Zelenskyy how we can do this. And I think that in the coming weeks, a Ukrainian delegation will come to Slovakia, and we will work together with our American friends to make this happen," Kacer said.
The Foreign Minister noted that on 7 December, Slovakia approved "a couple of thousand missiles used for MiG-29". He also said that he had discussed the issue of sending aircrafts with the President of Ukraine during the meeting.
"We also discussed this quite thoroughly with President Zelenskyy. And I think I have to keep secret the details of how it is to be done so as not to jeopardize it. However, I will say that today, we had a very, very good exchange of views with President Zelensky on how we will do it. So I am very optimistic, and I think this will also take place soon, the planes will come to Ukraine," he added.
