Heavy fighting continues in Soledar. Russians keep trying to completely capture the city, Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar reported on Telegram.

"After the losses incurred, the enemy once again replaced its units, increased the number of Wagner's troops, tried to break through our troops' defence and completely capture the city, but failed," she said.

Last night Russian occupants announced the complete capture of Soledar. Militants of the Private Military Company (PMC) Wagner published a photo allegedly from the Soledar mine, but the StratCom of the Ukrainian Armed Forces denied their presence there. The mine of this type is located in another settlement of Donetsk Region, which is currently occupied.

On the morning of 11 January, the spokesman for the Eastern group of troops also said that the occupiers' statements about the complete capture of the city are not true.

The statement of the press service of the PMC Wagner's owner Yevgeniy Prigozhin about taking control of Soledar was denied even by the Russian Defence Ministry. According to it, the fighting continues.

On 9 January, the Russians launched a heavy assault on Soledar. After retreating, they regrouped, changed tactics and began to assault. To do this, Russia engaged the most trained reserve of PMC militants.
