General Staff: Russia launches six missile, 14 air strikes on Ukraine over 24 hours

The enemy is concentrating its main efforts in the Bakhmut area, as well as conducting unsuccessful offensive actions in the Avdiyivka area.

The 329th day of the Russian large-scale invasion has started. Over the past day, the enemy launched six missile attacks on Ukraine, three of which targeted civilian objects in the towns of Kupyansk and Kramatorsk, as well as 14 air strikes. The Russians also fired 95 times from multiple launch rocket systems, according to a morning report from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The threat of air and missile strikes by the Russian Federation on civilian targets across Ukraine remains high.

The enemy focuses its main efforts on offensive operations in the Bakhmut area. It conducts unsuccessful offensives in the Avdiyivka area. Thus, units of the Ukrainian Defence Forces repelled the occupiers’ attacks in the vicinities of settlements of Bilohorivka (Luhansk Region), Sil, Krasna Hora, Bakhmut, Klishchiyivka, Vodyane, Nevelske, Maryinka, and Pobeda (Donetsk Region).

Volyn, Polissya, Siversk, and Slobozhansk areas: the situation remains stable. No adversary offensive groups were found in the areas bordering Ukraine. The Republic of Belarus continues to support Russian armed aggression. Joint exercises of the aircraft component of the regional grouping of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus continue at the airfields and in the airspace of Belarus.

At the same time, the Ukrainian Defence Forces are preventing provocative actions or sabotage by the adversary, air defence is being reinforced.

During the day of 17 January, the adversary continued shelling all along the line of contact with artillery and mortars. The following settlements were shelled: Mykolayivka (Chernihiv Region); Rivne, Atynske, Iskryskivshchyna, and Novodmytrivka (Sumy Region); Veterynarne, Krasne, Lukyantsi, Neskuchne, Starytsya, Ohirtseve, Hatyshche, Vovchansk, Rybalkyne, Bilyi Kolodyaz, Nesterne, Zemlyanky, Novomlynsk, Bolohivka, Kamyanka, and Dvorichna (Kharkiv Region).

Kupyansk area: the vicinities of Kyslivka, Berestove, Kotlyarivka, Vyshneve, Ivanivka (Kharkiv Region), as well as Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka, and Andriyivka (Luhansk Region), were under fire.

Lyman area: they employed all available ground firepower to shell the vicinities of settlements of Makiyivka, Ploshchanka, Nevske, Chervonopopivka, Kreminna, Dibrova (Luhansk Region), Terny, and Yampolivka (Donetsk Region).

Bakhmut area: Verkhnokamyanske, Spirne, Vyimka, Bilohorivka, Vesele, Soledar, Krasna Hora, Paraskoviyivka, Bakhmut, Klishchiyivka, Kurdyumivka, Ozaryanivka, Druzhba, Zalizne, and New York (Donetsk Region) were hit by enemy artillery.

Avdiyivka area: Avdiyivka, Vodyane, Pervomayske, Nevelske, Heorhiyivka, Myarinka, and Novomykhaylivka (Donetsk Region) came under enemy fire.

Novopavlivka area: the adversary fired artillery and mortars at Vuhledar, Mykilski Dachi, and Prechystivka (Donetsk Region).

Zaporizhzhya area: more than 10x settlements were damaged by artillery fire, in particular, Vremivka, Novopil (Donetsk Region), Temyrivka, Shcherbaky, Stepove, Kamyanske, and Plavni (Zaporizhzhya Region).

Kherson area: the occupational forces continue terrorizing civilians. In particular, Antonivka and Kherson came under mortar and artillery shelling, civilians suffered.

Due to the small number of collaborators, the invaders are forced to bring clerks from the Russian Federation to perform the administrative functions of the occupational regime in the temporarily occupied territories. In addition, there is a shortage of workers in various fields because residents are unwilling to cooperate with the occupant forces. Therefore, Russians attempt to bring workers from russia and the temporarily occupied Crimea.

During the day of 17 January, the Ukrainian Air Force launched 12 air strikes on the concentrations of the enemy, as well as 4 air strikes on the positions of its anti-aircraft missile systems. In addition, anti-aircraft gunners destroyed 1 Su-25 aircraft of the occupants in the vicinity of Soledar.

Units of the missile troops and artillery of the Ukrainian Defence Forces hit 2 command posts, as well as 5 concentrations of the invaders, 1 ammunition depot, 1 electronic warfare station, and 1 radio location station.
