Scandalous MP Mykola Tyshchenko was expelled from the party and the faction over his visit to Thailand, the head of the Servant of the People party, Olena Shulyak, has told LB.ua.

"Guided by the provisions of clause 9.1.22 of Article 9 of the Servant of the People Party Charter, I decided to expel MP Mykola Tyshchenko from the party," she said on Telegram.

She also said that Tyshchenko is to be removed from the post of deputy head of the Servant of the People party.

She noted that "lawyers are preparing a resolution".

According to the party's charter, a decision of the congress is required to expel a member from its ranks. Alternatively, a member can tender resignation from the party.

Parliament speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk said that he did not send Tyshchenko on a business trip to Thailand.

"I did not send Mykola Tyshchenko on a business trip abroad. Accordingly, I, as the chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, did not sign the resolution on a business trip to Thailand," Stefanchuk said.

Earlier, the head of the Servant of the People faction, Davyd Arakhamiya, announced the expulsion of Tyshchenko from the faction.

Today it became known that Tyshchenko is organizing a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian community in Thailand, the Ukrainian embassy said. The meeting was announced a little more than a day before the scheduled date.

In July last year, the head of the Servant of the People party, Olena Shulyak, issued an order to terminate Tyshchenko's powers as head of the party's Transcarpathian regional organization ahead of schedule.
