Ukroboronprom and a NATO member state have started jointly producing 120-mm mortar rounds, the press service of the state-owned concern has said.

This is the first joint product with a NATO member state. A contract has recently been signed with the Ministry of Defence for the supply of these munitions. The Ukrainian military will receive them soon.

"120-mm rounds are manufactured using modern technologies. Production facilities are dispersed, in particular, part of them is located in one of the European countries. This ammunition is guaranteed to hit enemy infantry within a radius of 25 m to 60 m, while fragments can reach 250 m. In addition, the 120-mm round is capable of destroying engineering structures and lightly armoured vehicles," Ukroboronprom said.

A 120-mm mortar is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 7 km, and with modern ammunition more than 8 km.

According to the concern, this mortar is one of the most common types of artillery weapons in Ukraine. It is actively used in combat operations against Russian invaders.

Earlier, Ukroboronprom began producing 82-mm fragmentation mines in a NATO country.

The concern emphasized that while the 82-mm mine is manufactured outside Ukraine using the technology improved by Ukroboronprom specialists, the 120-mm mine is a joint product with Western allies.
