The Korean International Cooperation Agency has handed over 100 modern Ssang Yong pick-up trucks to the State Emergency Service (SES), the SES press service said.
"These cars will be distributed among pyrotechnic units, mountain rescue units and operational coordination centres of the State Emergency Service," noted Serhiy Kruk, head of the SES.
He clarified that since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine, the scope of the tasks of the State Emergency Service had increased many times. Therefore, the list of priority needs to strengthen the capabilities of the Service's units is constantly updated.
At the moment, there is an urgent need for machinery and equipment in the State Emergency Service, namely life support modules, special, fire-rescue and engineering equipment, special protective equipment, means for demining and disposal of explosive ordnance, etc.
According to recent reports, the SES is currently boosting the number of pyrotechnics. To ensure that the work is carried out, the Service is working to increase the number of pyrotechnic teams by 500 people.
