Latvia has so far provided Ukraine with EUR 300m in military aid, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said.

He noted that with the implementation of the new package, the amount of assistance from Latvia will increase to EUR 370m.

"Ukraine has already received more than EUR 300m in military aid from Latvia. And we are grateful for the approval of a new aid package in the new budget, which will bring this amount to EUR 370m, or more than 1% of Latvia's GDP," Shmyhal said at a joint press conference with Prime Minister of Latvia Krisjānis Karinš.

Shmyhal added that Ukraine appreciates the efforts of its Latvian partners to train the Ukrainian military in accordance with NATO standards, which "brings Ukraine one step closer to victory". He also recalled that the Latvian government was one of the first to approve a national position on supporting Ukraine's membership in the EU, and thanked for this decision and further consultation and advocacy work on this issue.

This morning, Karinš arrived in Kyiv on a visit.
