In recent days, the number of engagements in the Bakhmut sector has decreased, the spokesman for the Eastern Group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevatyy, has said on the air of the news telethon.
"Today there were 18 engagements in the Bakhmut sector, while recently there were 30 to 50. But so far, Bakhmut remains the epicentre of hostilities, the direction of the enemy's main attack," he said.
Cherevatyy said that over the day the Russians opened artillery fire 178 times in the Bakhmut sector, and five air strikes took place. In the area of Bakhmut town alone, 40 attacks and 16 engagements took place, 182 Russian troops were killed and 218 were wounded.
