On 30 March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy will deliver a speech via video link to the National Council of Austria, Ukrinform has reported, citing the Council's website.
Zelenskyy will deliver a video address not during a regular meeting of the lower house of the Austrian parliament, but as part of a so-called "parliamentary event" at the invitation of President of the National Council Wolfgang Sobotka. This is due to the fact that the far right and the pro-Russian Austrian Freedom Party continued to block the speech during the session.
The event is scheduled to begin at 09:05, followed immediately by a speech by the President of Ukraine. The event will be followed by debates, in which representatives of parliamentary factions will speak.
It is also expected that on Thursday the issue of granting Ukrainian internally displaced persons unrestricted access to the Austrian labour market will be considered.
Thus, Austria will become one of the last EU member states to be addressed by the Ukrainian leader in its parliament. Currently, out of the 27 EU countries, only Bulgaria and Hungary have not yet granted the president of Ukraine this opportunity.
