Although the Defence Forces have not observed any active preparations by Russia for shelling and missile attacks, Ukrainians are asked to avoid mass gatherings on Easter for their own safety, Natalya Humenyuk, head of the Joint Coordination Centre of the Southern Defence Forces, has said on the air of the news telethon.
"We have not recorded any very active preparations because the enemy in our direction is busy preparing defensive structures. They are more on the defensive and preparing for defence, and from time to time they continue shelling civilians," said Humenyuk.
However, according to her, it is worth avoiding mass gatherings on holidays because "the occupiers are essentially terrorists, and they carry out air strikes and artillery strikes where they can bring it [artillery] up, shelling civilians".
The Security Service of Ukraine also urged people not to attend mass gatherings and to follow security recommendations on the eve of Easter because of the risk of provocations by Russia.
