On the night of 8 May, Russians attacked Kyiv Region with Iranian-made Shahed-136/131 strike drones from the Seshcha airfield in Bryansk Region, to the north of Ukraine. A total of 35 strike drones were used, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has said.
"All 35 Shahed-136/131s were destroyed by the forces and means of air defence of the Air Command Centre of the Air Force, in cooperation with the components of the Ukrainian Defence Forces," it said.
The command stressed that even a 100 per cent hit rate on air targets does not guarantee a safe stay in the area where air defence is operating.
"The wreckage of anti-aircraft missiles and damaged UAVs will definitely return to the ground! So take care of yourself and your families," the military said.
It is also reported that at around midnight, Russians attacked Odesa Region from Tu-22m3 long-range bombers. A total of eight launches were made from the area of Cape Tarkhankut (occupied Crimea). Some of the missiles did not reach their targets.
