Russia has reinforced its forces and is conducting an active offensive in the Lyman and Kupyansk sectors. Hot fighting continues here, according to Ukraine's Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar, who called the situation in the east "difficult".
According to her, the Russians are trying to seize the initiative and are not abandoning their plans to reach the borders of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
"Currently, this is the main direction of the offensive for the enemy. Therefore, it has concentrated a significant number of his units, including air assault troops, in the east. Our troops are acting courageously in the face of enemy superiority in forces and means and are not allowing the enemy to advance," Malyar said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a regular meeting of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff. The situation at the front and the offensive brigades were discussed.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have liberated eight settlements in the south.
