A colonel of the Ukrainian Security Service was found dead in his office, UP reports, with a reference to sources in the intelligence service and law enforcement agencies.
The man was diagnosed with a gunshot wound to the head. SBU confirmed the death of its officer.
"The circumstances of the death of the SBU officer are being investigated within the framework of criminal proceedings, which are being conducted by the National Police of Ukraine. The Security Service of Ukraine expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased officer. The special service provides maximum assistance to the National Police for a full, objective and impartial investigation," the SBU said.
A few years ago, an SBU officer shot himself in Kyiv. The man shot himself in the temple near the building of the Department of State Secrets and Licensing.
