Former Ukrainian MP from the banned Party of Regions Oleh Tsaryov was attacked in Yalta, according to Russian Telegram channels and an adviser to the exiled mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andryushchenko.

The Russian channels claim that Tsaryov was stabbed and hospitalised "in a serious condition". At night, local residents allegedly noticed a large gathering of emergency vehicles near Tsaryov's house.

Petro Andryushchenko said that Tsarev could have been shot at rather than stabbed.

"His condition is still unknown, but his prospects are good. At least, pleasant," Andryushchenko said sarcastically.

Collaborator Vladimir Rogov claims that Tsaryov was attacked near the Kirov sanatorium in Yalta. According to preliminary reports, he was shot at. His condition is unknown.

Tsaryov's Telegram channel confirmed the information about the attack.

"Oleh Tsaryov's family has confirmed the information about the attempted assassination. Around midnight, he was shot at twice on the territory of the sanatorium where he lives. There is no information about the perpetrator, law enforcers are working. By the time the ambulance arrived, Oleh was unconscious, suffering from heavy blood loss. There is no information about his condition at the moment."

Fifty-three-year-old Tsaryov is one of the most pro-Russian political figures in Ukraine. He was sentenced in absentia to 12 years in prison for encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and attempted violent seizure of state power. He is also accused of treason and collaboration.
