Sources of LB.ua have confirmed that the attempted assassination of former Party of Regions MP Oleh Tsaryov was a special operation of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
"He has long been on the list of traitors who must answer for their crimes. Tsaryov is an absolutely legitimate target. He is not just a fanatic of the 'Russian world', but a person who personally came with Russian tanks to capture Kyiv," the informed source said.
Details of the special operation are not disclosed.
As of now, it is reported that Tsaryov was shot twice from a firearm.
According to the latest information, the ex-MP's condition is critical. Doctors are fighting for his life, but there is a good chance that he will not make it.
Tsaryov was attacked in Yalta. The Russians claimed that he was badly wounded with a knife and hospitalised "in a serious condition". At night, locals allegedly noticed a large gathering of emergency vehicles near his house.
Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Ukrainian special services almost killed Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov. Over the past 20 months, the SBU and the Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate have organised dozens of assassinations of Russian officials in the occupied territories, as well as collaborators, officers behind the front line and known supporters of the war in the Russian rear.
