Government to raise 250m euros from EU for rapid recovery - Shmyhal

It will be used to rebuild bridges, railways, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, residential buildings and support Ukrainian farmers.

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved an agreement that will allow Ukraine to attract another €250 million from the European Union for rapid recovery, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said at a government meeting.

According to him, the funds will be used to rebuild bridges, railways, schools, kindergartens, hospitals, and residential buildings. The funds will also be used to support Ukrainian farmers.

As for the situation in the energy sector, the Energy Support Fund for Ukraine, together with the announced contributions, has already exceeded €300 million.

"Among the leaders of support: the EU, Germany, Sweden, the United States, and the United Kingdom," Shmyhal added.

He noted that these funds will be used to buy transformers, turbines, connectors, equipment for trunk power grids and much more.

As reported earlier, the European Investment Bank may soon approve the first two tranches of 100m euros each for restoration projects.
