Russian troops began shelling the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Region in addition to the right bank controlled by the Ukrainian government. Under fire are particularly those territories that the Ukrainian Defence Forces managed to recapture. In this way, the Russians are trying to stop Ukrainian troops after they have gained a foothold on several bridgeheads in the occupied territory, Oleksandr Tolokonnikov, a spokesman for the Kherson regional military administration, told the news telethon.
"They (Russians, ed.) started using aerial bombs to target the left bank. As I understand it, these are chaotic attacks. They are very afraid of a counteroffensive and are trying to stop our guys on the left bank," he said.
According to Tolonnikov, the Russian army can hit almost every corner of Kherson from the left bank. The Bilozerka community suffers the most from shelling.
