The Ukrainian delegation discussed Ukraine's plan to defeat Russia with Republican representatives in Congress. This was announced by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.

"Together with the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk and the Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, we met with Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul, Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Mike Turner and Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee Mike Rogers," Yermak said.

He thanked the participants for preparing a strategically important document that provides a clear set of steps for the United States to confront Russia: "Proposals for a Plan for Ukraine's Victory".

In particular, the document identifies the following priorities:

  • transfer of weapons to Ukraine in the appropriate quantity and within the appropriate timeframe,
  • strengthening sanctions and export controls over Russia,
  • increasing pressure on G7 and the EU to transfer frozen sovereign assets of the Russian Federation to Ukraine and a number of other important measures.

"We appreciate that both US parties - Republican and Democratic - are united in their support for Ukraine. Bipartisan support is our core value, and we look forward to maintaining it," Yermak wrote.

The Ukrainian delegation also stressed the importance of prompt consideration in Congress of the budget request to fund additional spending to help Ukraine in the amount of more than $61 billion, which is vital to continue the liberation of our lands from Russian invaders.

The sides also discussed Ukraine's urgent defence needs, including strengthening its air defence, increasing supplies of long-range missiles, artillery shells, tanks and armoured vehicles, and the delivery of F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.

They also discussed deepening cooperation with Ukrainian caucuses, recruiting new members, and expanding cooperation with other Congressional caucuses.
