Ukrainian border guards continue to fortify the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. Despite the change in weather, engineering units of the State Border Service are working to install various types of engineering barriers, its press service has said.

"Anti-tank ditches are being dug along the entire section of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. We continue to construct reinforced concrete, metal mesh and barbed wire barriers. We are also installing anti-tank concrete pyramids in open areas," said Andriy Demchenko, assistant to the head of the State Border Service.

The work is being carried out using both departmental specialised equipment and equipment received as aid. The fortifications are also being reinforced with the active support of local authorities.

Together with the units of the Defence Forces, minefields are being reinforced in areas under risk.

"At present, the situation on the border with Belarus remains under full control. However, we understand the threat that may come from this direction, as this country continues to support Russia in the war waged against our country. Intelligence units are constantly monitoring the situation on the other side of the border to assess the threat and respond in a timely manner," Demchenko said.

How Belarus is helping Russia in its war against Ukraine

- Belarus is not a direct participant in Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine, but it is providing logistical support to the Russian invasion. Missiles are being launched from the territory of Belarus at Ukrainian cities. Russia is also using Belarusian territory to deploy its subversive reconnaissance groups to Ukraine.

- Last October, Alyaksandr Lukashenka confirmed Belarus's participation in the war against Ukraine on the side of Russia. However, he claimed that the Belarusian military "is not sent to the conflict zone".

- In an interview with LB.ua, National Security and Defence Council Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said earlier that Russia recruits Belarusians to participate in the war against Ukraine, but sends the recruits through its territory because there are not many who have agreed.

- Earlier this year, Lieutenant General Oleksandr Pavlyuk, commander of the Kyiv Defence Forces group, said that there was no immediate threat of a repeat invasion of the north of the country by Belarus. However, the Ukrainian military is considering possible options for aggression in the coming months.
