The German Bundeswehr has provided 120 Marder infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine. Fourty additional IFVs came from industrial stocks, according to the website of the German Ministry of Defence.
"Germany supports Ukraine in its defence struggle against Russia. As the largest European sponsor and the second largest in the world after the United States, our material donations include, among other things, the latest air defence systems, armoured support vehicles and vehicles, combat and armoured personnel carriers, artillery systems and ammunition," the statement said.
The Defence Ministry notes that the supplies come both from Bundeswehr warehouses and directly from industry.
"Initially, Ukraine received 80 Marder 1 A3 infantry fighting vehicles. Another 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles came from industrial stocks. They were purchased from Greece," the Bundeswehr added.
