Russian troops have reduced the number of attacks in the Tavriya sector, Oleksandr Shtupun, spokesman for the Joint Press Centre of the Tavriya sector of the Ukrainian Defence Forces, said on the air of the telethon.
"The enemy, having suffered losses, acts in waves. It is slightly reducing the number of attacks. First, they have New Year holidays. The Russians are not very eager to attack, let's say, in general. Some units are starting to rebel, refusing or running away from the trenches to avoid going forward," said Shtupun.
According to the spokesman, the Russians are not reducing the intensity of artillery shelling, which ranges from 900 to 1,000 per day.
Also, with infantry attacks somewhat reduced, the enemy is trying to inflict maximum damage to logistics routes and fortifications. "The enemy is trying to destroy our fortifications. This week, attempts to use Tulips, 240mm powerful mortars, were recorded. Luckily, they don't reach that far. Our artillery managed to destroy one of them," added Shtupun.
