On the night of 5 January, Ukraine's air defence system shot down 21 of 29 Shahed attack UAVs launched by the Russians.
The attack took place in two waves from the Russian region of Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Cape Chauda in Crimea. This was reported by the Air Force.
"Air defences shot down 21 of 29 attack UAVs within Mykolayiv, Kherson, Dnipro, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad and Khmelnytskyy Regions," the statement said.
The enemy sent some of the drones to the frontline area of Kherson and Mykolayiv Regions.
Most of the drones were destroyed by mobile fire groups.
