DIU drones strike Russian oil refinery 2,000 km from border

The targeted facility is involved in supplying fuel and lubricants to the Russian army.

Ukrainian drones have struck the LUKOIL–Ukhta Oil Refinery in Russia’s Republic of Komi – a facility that supplies fuel and lubricants to the occupying army – more than two thousand kilometres from the Ukrainian border.

The attack took place on 10 August as part of a special operation by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine.

According to local Telegram channels, residents reported hearing a series of powerful explosions near the refinery. Moments later, fire engines, ambulances and other emergency services rushed to the scene. Witnesses said at least one large storage tank on the refinery’s territory had been ruptured, sending fuel spilling across the site. Power lines were reportedly damaged, causing outages, and mobile internet service in the city was disrupted.

Sources in Ukrainian intelligence stated that the drones struck a tank containing petroleum products, triggering a spill, and damaged a gas and gas condensate processing plant used to produce propane–butane and petrol.
