Andriy Yusov, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, has told Radio Liberty that a prisoner exchange with Russia, which was scheduled for today, is not happening.
"I can state that the exchange scheduled for today is not happening," he said.
He added that Russian reports that the prisoners due to be exchanged may have been on board the Il-76 military aircraft that crashed in Russia's Belgorod Region today is being checked.
Such allegations were first made by Russian propagandists who later removed their posts.
Ukraine's HQ for the Coordination of POW Treatment asked the media and public not to share unverified reports until the Russian allegations are checked.
