A new point of the Russian army's attempted offensive has emerged in the Orikhiv direction in Zaporizhzhya Region. It is the Vremivka salient on the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions, where the Russians are conducting assaults, Dmytro Lykhoviy, a spokesman for the Tavriya Operational and Strategic Group of Forces, said on the air of the news telethon, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
"I can highlight the events in the Orikhiv direction, where, although there were relatively fewer enemy assaults - five this morning until 6 pm - a new point of enemy offensive attempts has appeared in its geography, the so-called Vremivka salient, where Russians have been conducting assaults on foot since last night and this morning," he said.
The Vremivka salient is located on the border between Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya regions. According to the spokesman, the enemy offensive is likely to be linked to the presidential elections in Russia, as the occupiers need to show results at the front.
In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy, supported by aviation, attacked the positions of Ukrainian defenders five times in the areas of Robotyne, Staromayorsk and north-west of Verbove in Zaporizhzhya Region.
