This refers to children of deceased defenders of Ukraine from those who voluntarily participated in the implementation of measures necessary to ensure the defence of Ukraine and were not members of volunteer formations of territorial communities, the Cabinet of Ministers reports.

This allows the amount of the payment to be automatically increased from UAH 2,361 to UAH 7,800 per minor and up to UAH 6,100 for each child in a family with two or more children, starting from 1 April.

It is noted that the changes were initiated following working meetings with the families of the victims.

"The Ministry of Veterans' Affairs appealed to the Ministry of Social Policy to resolve the issue of granting benefits to family members of the deceased. As a result, starting from 1 April, children of fallen volunteers will receive targeted assistance in increased amounts. Therefore, the Government's decision is a matter of restoring social justice, as the children of fallen volunteers who stood up to defend the state after 24 February 2022 received lower payments than other children of fallen defenders," said Acting Minister of Veterans' Affairs Oleksandr Porkhun.
