Ambassadors of the EU member states have agreed to reform the European Peace Facility, the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union announced on the social networking site X.
"EU Ambassadors agreed in principle on a reform of the European Peace Facility, to support Ukraine with €5 billion budget for 2024," it tweeted. "The EU remains determined to provide lasting support to Ukraine & ensure that the country gets the military equipment it needs to defend itself.
Politico reported that there were objections from France, Germany and Hungary.
The agreement will be officially approved at a meeting of EU foreign ministers on Monday, 18 March.
