Russian Telegram channels are claiming that Ukraine is plotting a terrorist attack in Kupyansk, Kharkiv Region, and that the Ukrainian military is allegedly using local residents as human shields and their houses as shelters, the Centre for Countering Disinformation said.
"Hostile TG channels are spreading information that 'the Kyiv regime is preparing a terrorist attack in Kupyansk to blame Russia'. According to the propagandists, this is evidenced by the opening of the local market," the Centre said.
Also, the Centre for Countering Disinformation spotted fake news about the Ukrainian military allegedly hiding in residential buildings and using local residents as human shields.
"In fact, this is another cynical lie of Russian propagandists, whose goal is to create an information alibi for themselves before the likely chaotic shelling of the city, which the Russian occupiers carry out almost every day," the Centre for Countering Disinformation emphasises.
It also adds that, according to Andriy Besedin, head of the Kupyansk city military administration, measures are being taken to evacuate the population to safer places, which contradicts the ruscists' allegations of civilians being used as human shields.
