Today, on 14 March, the Ukrainian parliament issued an address to foreign governments and parliaments, as well as international organisations, in connection with Russia's so-called "presidential elections" in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine (draft law 11078).
In a joint statement, the chairmen of the Foreign Affairs Committees of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Denmark, Italy, Iceland, Spain, the United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, Canada, Poland, Luxembourg, Moldova, and Romania also called for the non-recognition of the "elections".
The document supported by the Ukrainian parliament calls for condemning the Russian Federation for holding "elections" in the occupied part of Ukraine and for opposing attempts to engage international observers. In addition, MPs call for tougher sanctions against Russia.
The Ukrainian parliament also requests increased assistance to the Ukrainian Defence Forces to restore territorial integrity, as well as urges the addressees to participate in the implementation of the Zelenskyy Peace Formula and the Global Peace Summit.
