The Sumy Regional Military Administration reported on its Facebook page that a Russian attack drone hit an apartment building in Sumy.
The Shahed attack was carried out at around 1:30 am. Several explosions were heard in the city. Emergency services are working at the site.
Update. As of 14:14, rescuers have unblocked the body of a man. There may be more people under the rubble, the Interior Ministry said.
As of 7:42 am, the Sumy Regional Military Administration reports that there are casualties as a result of the strike. At least eight people were injured.
"As a result of the Russia's Shahed UAV hitting a five-storey residential building, 30 apartments were damaged, 15 of them were destroyed. According to preliminary information, 10 people were rescued from the rubble, 8 of whom sustained injuries of varying severity. Unfortunately, there are some dead (information is being clarified)," the statement said.
