The Security Service of Ukraine reported the detention of a traitor who tried to spy on SBU officers and corrected missile strikes on enterprises in Zaporizhzhya Region involved in the defence industry.

The SBU established that the suspect was spying on local SBU officers at the request of the FSB to establish backup locations of the Service. According to available information, the Russian command planned to use this information to prepare missile strikes in the future.

In addition, the offender tried to establish the exact coordinates of enterprises involved in the defence industry of Ukraine. To do this, she received approximate geolocations of defence plants from the occupiers, and then conducted reconnaissance on the ground near them.

During the surveillance, the suspect recorded as much information as possible about the facilities: from their operating hours to the intensity of truck traffic in the open areas of the workshops. She also used her friends and classmates asking them for information during friendly conversations.

Based on the information, the invaders hoped to conduct targeted missile and drone strikes on production facilities. However, the SBU exposed the Russia's criminal intentions in advance and detained the Russian agent at the stage of intelligence gathering.

According to the investigation, the enemy accomplice was a 19-year-old student of a local university who came to the attention of the FSB in the autumn of 2023. Later, the girl was remotely recruited through her godmother, a collaborator who is a member of the senior staff of the Russian occupation administration in one of the temporarily occupied cities in Zaporizhzhya Region.

It was through her that the Russian special service gave instructions to the recruited agent in the regional centre and received "reports" on the tasks performed.

The detainee has been served a notice of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 28, Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason).
