A two-day summit of EU leaders has started in Brussels today. Among the topics to be discussed by the heads of state will be the supply of weapons to Ukraine, UP writes.

They will also discuss security and defence issues and the situation in the Middle East, enlargement of the Union, international relations, migration and agriculture. In terms of enlargement, leaders will assess the progress of Ukraine, Moldova and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As for security and defence, the leaders will discuss increasing defence readiness.

Politico notes that EU leaders are increasingly fearful of a scenario in which the United States wavers on its security guarantees for Europe and Russia decides to test the strength of NATO's collective defence clause. An attack on an EU country could happen as early as 2026, German intelligence services have warned in an analysis.

Deterrence is expensive: but weapons to deter potential attacks will cost a lot. So today, EU leaders will discuss their options.
