The former head of the Central Food Supply Department of the Logistics Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has been detained and accused of illicit enrichment of about UAH 58 million. This is stated by the Prosecutor General's Office and the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, the former official, who has already been dismissed from his post, acquired assets worth almost UAH 58 million as a person authorised to perform state functions. In particular, we are talking about:

  • Toyota car, made in 2022,
  • an apartment in Kyiv,
  • a regional base for special medical purposes in Khmelnytskyy Region with a total area of 2,022 sq.m.,
  • 55 land plots in different Regions,
  • The complex of the Khmelnytskyy State Experimental Prosthetic and Orthopaedic Enterprise.

The prosecutor's office noted that the amount of illegally acquired funds exceeds his legitimate income by more than six thousand five hundred tax-free minimum incomes.

Currently, a search is being conducted at the former official's place of residence. The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is also being decided.

The SBI noted that the official enriched himself in 2022-2023. Presumably, it was used for procurement by the Ministry of Defence.

"The State Bureau of Investigation continues to work consistently and systematically to counteract the illicit enrichment of officials, including, allegedly, as a result of abuse of procurement in the interests of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Bureau said.

The court seized the illegally acquired assets.
