Ukraine, Belgium sign security agreement: €977m this year, 30 F-16s by 2028

The document was signed by the Ukrainian President and the Belgian Prime Minister.

Ukraine and Belgium have signed a bilateral security agreement. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed the agreement with Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo during his visit to Brussels.

Under the agreement, Belgium will provide Ukraine with €977 million in military aid this year. The Ukrainian president announced this in X. 

"For the first time, this agreement specifies the exact number of F-16 fighter jets - 30 to be delivered to Ukraine by 2028, with the first arriving this year. The agreement guarantees timely security assistance from Belgium, modern armoured vehicles, equipment to meet the needs of Ukraine's Air Force and Air Defence, naval security, demining, participation in the artillery coalition, and military training," the President said. 

The document also envisages defence and industrial cooperation, support for the Ukrainian Peace Formula, toughening sanctions against Russia, compensation for damages caused by it, the use of frozen Russian assets, and economic recovery. 

Ukraine and Belgium will deepen cooperation in intelligence, cyber security and countering disinformation. Belgium also expresses support for Ukraine's future membership in the EU and NATO.
