Ukraine has received Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns previously purchased by the United States in Jordan, which are equipped with an upgraded fire control system and a more advanced radar system.

Photos of the self-propelled systems were published by the Air Force of Ukraine.

The Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft systems were purchased by the United States from Jordan, Militarnyi notes.

The weapons are equipped with an upgraded fire control system and a more modern radar system.

"Our self-propelled anti-aircraft gun is armed with two 35 mm cannons. We have radar stations on board for tracking and searching for targets and guidance. The third important component of the system is an on-board computer. It analyses all the parameters of the target and carries out targeting,’ the Air Force said in a statement.
Previously, such anti-aircraft systems were supplied to the Dutch armed forces under contracts in 1977 and 1979 and received a different radar and smoke screen system.

The Gepard system is currently hunting Russian strike UAVs and cruise missiles as part of the air defence capabilities of the Zakhid Air Command.

"We strive to achieve the highest efficiency in repelling air and missile attacks and destroy the maximum number of targets. That is why we continuously train crews, collect, summarise and disseminate best practices, and conduct training with the use of control targets,’ the Ukrainian Air Force said in a statement.
