In the coming days, Energoatom will put another 1,000-megawatt power unit under repair. This was announced by the acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company Petro Kotin.

"Given this, as well as the increase in electricity consumption in July, the generation deficit in the power system may increase," he said.

Kotin also stressed that this repair schedule will help to minimise the duration of forced power outages in autumn.
He added that Energoatom is carrying out repairs of NPP power units as quickly and efficiently as possible to ensure their reliable operation during the heating season.

"The safe and efficient operation of nuclear reactors at domestic NPPs requires annual scheduled preventive maintenance, including nuclear fuel refuelling and mandatory scheduled maintenance. As a rule, such repairs are carried out in the warm season to maximise the capacity of nuclear generation during the autumn and winter period," he said.

This year, repairs are being carried out at 8 power units of Rivne, South Ukraine and Khmelnytskyy NPPs. Zaporizhzhya NPP has not undergone scheduled preventive maintenance since its occupation.

The work is carried out according to the repair campaign schedule agreed with Ukrenergo.

"In recent months, Energoatom has already completed repairs of 3 power units with a capacity of 2420 MW. Thanks to the round-the-clock, high-quality and efficient work of nuclear engineers, the total duration of repairs has already been reduced by 22.3 days from the planned one. As a result, the NPPs generated an additional 171.84 million kW of electricity and supported the power grid by reducing the duration of outages in June," said Kotin.
